What to expect

Three steps, not a maze.

Reaching out to a new therapist is hard enough. The process from "thinking about it" to "in the room" should not be the obstacle. Here's exactly what happens.

01

A short call, free.

Fifteen minutes by phone. You tell us what's going on — at the level of detail you're comfortable with — and what you're hoping for. We tell you whether we're a good fit. If we're not, we'll do our best to point you toward someone who is. There's no obligation, no "intake fee," no follow-up that wasn't agreed to.

02

First session.

Fifty to sixty minutes. We'll go through some intake questions — history, what's brought you in now, what's been tried before. For kids, the parent(s) usually come without the child to this first session. For adults, it's just you. There is no obligation to dig into your worst memories on day one.

03

Begin.

Weekly sessions, usually. Some clients move to every other week once things stabilize. We'll be honest with you about how long we think the work will take and what progress should look like — and we'll re-assess together every few months.

Some practical things

Cancellation: 24 hours notice or the session is billed at full rate.
Telehealth: Available for clients located anywhere in California.
Confidentiality: Standard therapist confidentiality applies, with the legal exceptions (imminent harm, child/elder abuse, court order).
Records: You can request your records at any time.

Ready when you are

A steady place to land is one call away.

No forms to fight through first. Call, email, or request a consult on the form — whichever feels easiest.
