Parent–Child Interaction Therapy.

  • Evidence-based
  • Parent coaching
  • Ages 2–7
  • Live coaching from behind the glass

You and your child, in the room together. A clinician coaching from behind a one-way mirror or video link. Evidence-based. Practical. Slowly transformative.

What PCIT is

PCIT is an evidence-based, manualized therapy for kids ages 2 to 7 (sometimes a little older) and their parents. The work is done with parent and child in the room together, while the clinician coaches in real time — usually through a small earpiece worn by the parent — from behind a one-way mirror or video link.

It's structured. It has phases. It has homework. It works.

We're PCIT-trained.

Who it's for

Families where the day-to-day is hard. Where the cycle of escalation, meltdown, consequence, and exhaustion has worn everyone down. Where you've read the books and tried the strategies and nothing has stuck.

Families in foster, kinship, or adoption arrangements working to build attachment that didn't get to develop the usual way.

Kids with disruptive behaviors, severe defiance, or aggression — and parents who want practical, in-the-moment skills, not a workshop on theory.

What it looks like

PCIT has two phases. The first focuses on relationship-building skills — specific ways of playing with and responding to your child that, used consistently, change the underlying connection. The second phase teaches discipline skills that work without the screaming.

A typical course is 12–20 sessions, depending on what the family needs. We'll be honest with you about how it's going.
