EMDR

  • Evidence based
  • Trauma focused

Eight phases. Bilateral stimulation. The brain finishes processing what got stuck. No need to relive it in detail to heal from it.

What EMDR is

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It's an evidence based therapy for trauma and distressing memories that haven't fully processed on their own. The clinician guides you through sets of bilateral stimulation, usually eye movements, tones, or taps, while you briefly focus on a difficult memory. Something shifts. The memory stays, but the charge around it starts to come down.
It's structured. It has eight phases. You don't have to narrate the whole story in detail for it to work.

We are EMDR trained.

Who it's for

People carrying something that happened once, or something that happened over and over. Where the event is technically over but the body hasn't gotten the memo. Where certain places, sounds, or situations still trigger a reaction that doesn't match the present moment.
People who've done years of talk therapy and can explain their trauma perfectly, but still feel it in their body the same way they always have.
Teens and adults dealing with single-incident trauma, complex or developmental trauma, or the kind of anxiety and hypervigilance that trauma leaves behind.

What it looks like

You come in and tell me what's been showing up: the memory, the trigger, the reaction that doesn't make sense given what's happening right now. We build a target list together. No pressure to have it all figured out before we start.
Before we touch the memory itself, we build resourcing. Ways to steady yourself. A calm place. Grounding skills you can actually use, not just talk about.
Then we process. You hold the memory in mind, briefly, while I guide sets of eye movements, tapping, or tones. I ask what came up. We follow it. No detailed retelling required, no forcing a narrative. The brain does the sorting.
Sessions end with closure, win or not fully resolved. You leave regulated, not raw.
Over time, the memory stops running the show. It's still there. It just doesn't hijack you anymore.
