About
About the practice.
Lemon & Leaves Counseling is a small trauma-therapy practice run by Mallory Garcia, LMFT. Mallory works with kids as young as two and adults still carrying what happened to them long ago.
Who we are
Mallory is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with almost ten years of clinical work behind her, with adults and adolescents who have experienced significant trauma. She's EMDR-trained and committed to the kind of plain-spoken honesty that doesn't talk down to anyone.
She is the only clinician in the practice. The brand says "we" because the practice is the practice, not the person — but if you book a session, you're booking with Mallory.
How we work
We believe trauma is what the nervous system did to survive something the conscious mind couldn't manage. EMDR works with that directly — not by making you retell the story in detail, but by helping the brain finish processing what got frozen. Eight phases. Bilateral stimulation. No shortcuts, no magic.
We don't promise quick fixes. We do promise we'll tell you honestly what we think the work will need.
We use evidence-based approaches: CBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, therapy with play and other trauma-focused modalities for adults and kids. We don't promise quick fixes. We do promise we'll tell you honestly what we think the work will need.
Who we work with
Teens and adults carrying trauma that hasn't fully processed. Single-incident trauma, complex PTSD, early childhood trauma that's still running the show, grief that got stuck, and the slow-burn effects of having had to be too tough too young.
We take IEHP, UHC, Optum, Kaiser Northern California, and private pay. We're an in-network provider, not a fee-for-service practice that grudgingly accepts insurance — we want the families that need us to actually be able to come.
